It's been four years since David was in ICU (April 4, 2011). It took nearly 3 years to get to the finish line of his first marathon. Since then, he has completed three more marathons including: Boston '14, Chicago '14 and Zydeco '15. In total, David has completed 52 races and a trekked across Massachusetts, running 59.45 miles in three days.

The ongoing challenge for Mr. Johndrow has been battling cancer. He was first diagnosed a few weeks before the Cape Cod Marathon. Since that time he has had a number of day surgeries and is currently running with cancer. On his schedule is Boston ’15, San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon and the NYC Marathon ’15.

David did it, he finished the 2013 Cape Cod Marathon just 938 days out of the Intensive Care Unit! His finish is a triumph over heart disease and an inspiration to others. Congratulations!

The Marathon Project is dedicated to empowering people to make lifestyle changes, increase running for health awareness, as well as raising money for health and fitness related charities.

Founded by a heart trauma survivor, the project, which is still in its infancy, was created as a vehicle to encourage and support those with serious health issues and fund research and fitness programs.

It is our belief that recreational running is one of the best sports for overall health and fitness. It is family friendly, and even those facing physical challenges such as obesity and heart disease can benefit from it.

The Marathon Project is in Phase I where we are gathering support, sponsorship and forming a team of runners who will participate in local races. As we get off the ground, we'd like to thank you for your support.
