It's been four years since David was in ICU (April 4, 2011). It took nearly 3 years to get to the finish line of his first marathon. Since then, he has completed three more marathons including: Boston '14, Chicago '14 and Zydeco '15. In total, David has completed 52 races and a trekked across Massachusetts, running 59.45 miles in three days.
The ongoing challenge for Mr. Johndrow has been battling cancer. He was first diagnosed a few weeks before the Cape Cod Marathon. Since that time he has had a number of day surgeries and is currently running with cancer. On his schedule is Boston ’15, San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon and the NYC Marathon ’15.

Intensive Care Unit! His finish is a triumph over heart disease and an
inspiration to others. Congratulations!
The Marathon Project is dedicated to empowering people to make lifestyle
changes, increase running for health awareness, as well as raising money
for health and fitness related charities.
Founded by a heart trauma survivor, the project, which is still in its
infancy, was created as a vehicle to encourage and support those with
serious health issues and fund research and fitness programs.
It is our belief that recreational running is one of the best sports for
overall health and fitness. It is family friendly, and even those facing
physical challenges such as obesity and heart disease can benefit from
